In his recent series, Lust (2022–2024), Levin reimagines Christian narratives through the lenses of artificial intelligence, photography, and textile arts. Presented at the Independent Artists’ Greenhouse during the Fresh Paint 2023 Art Fair, Lust investigates themes of forgiveness and transformation, drawing from religious and cultural symbols to create bold, contemporary representations. This series employs cutting-edge techniques, such as artificial intelligence and photography, paired with traditional textile art, to reimagine Christian narratives for a modern audience. Levin’s use of color—particularly red—plays a central role in the series, symbolizing passion, life, death, and the full spectrum of human emotions.

Levin studied at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design, and Art in Tel Aviv, spending a year in the Fashion Department before focusing on Textile Design for four years. He also attended the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, further enriching his artistic and design foundations.

Nir Giorgio Levin (b. 1994) is a multidisciplinary artist and textile designer originally from Brazil, now based in Tel Aviv. Levin’s practice blends traditional craftsmanship with innovative techniques, creating works that explore the intersections of identity, sexuality, religion, and culture. His personal narrative—being adopted as a Christian in Brazil and later raised as a Jew in Tel Aviv—deeply informs his art, serving as a foundation for his exploration of the boundaries between personal and collective identity.

Levin’s work integrates religious and cultural elements, weaving symbols, motifs, and materials into bespoke objects that are at once extravagant and minimalist. Rooted in storytelling, his designs delve into themes of forgiveness, spiritual connection, and the complexities of human relationships, while also serving as a lens for examining the tensions between his personal experiences and broader societal norms. By combining historical research and material experimentation, Levin challenges the constraints of societal and religious structures, inviting viewers to engage deeply with his art and confront the profound narratives it conveys.
